Notice of fraudulent communications that appear to come from The National Credit Union Administration

UNFCU has been informed that fraudulent emails that appear to come from The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) have been attempted. The NCUA’s name, logo, and other graphics have been used fraudulently in numerous “phishing” emails aimed at tricking people into providing sensitive financial and personal data on replicated Websites.

The email is sent from aw-confirm@hawaii.gov and tells readers that they must “respond within few hours of current notification and Confirm Your Credit or Debit Card via our SSL protected website”. The email provides the following link: http://www.NCUA.org/Hawaiiusafcuhb.us/Security/Login.cfm

If you have received this email, do NOT click on the link or provide your personal information. Please delete it immediately as it is a fraudulent email.

Be aware that the NCUA will never:

  • Initiate communication directly with UNFCU members regarding any account or personal information
  • Request personal information, such as card numbers, PIN, etc. via the Internet
  • Should you receive any suspicious emails, please delete them immediately, and most importantly do NOT respond or give out your information to anyone unless you have initiated the communication.
