Notice of fraudulent communications that appear to come from Credit Union National Association
CUNA (NOT CUNA Mutual Group), is being used as the subject of a phishing message members to collect personal account information, plastic card numbers, and passwords.
The subject of the email message is: "CUNA Alert: Irregular Check Card Activity"
The email states:” We detected irregular activity on check card on Oct. 25/2007. For your protection, you must reactivate your card. Call us immediately at 1.866.840.2863. We will review the activity on your account with you and upon verification, we will remove any restrictions placed on your account. Please disregard this notice if you have already accessed the website or spoken with one of our representatives."
If you have received this email, do NOT click on the link or provide your personal information. Please delete it immediately as it is a fraudulent email.
Be aware that the CUNA will never:
- Initiate communication directly with UNFCU members regarding any account or personal information
- Request personal information, such as card numbers, PIN, etc. via the Internet
- Should you receive any suspicious emails, please delete them immediately, and most importantly do NOT respond or give out your information to anyone unless you have initiated the communication.
