US Citizens
One of the more frustrating aspects of being in a customer service industry such as Insurance is not being able to find an answer to a member’s needs. One area where we had particular difficulty was in finding Life Insurance Products for UNFCU members who for one reason or another were constantly being turned down by Life Insurance companies because of their lack of US Citizenship, frequent UN travel, travel to the less secure locations around the world, or just being native to one of many countries not favored by US insurers.
We saw this problem not as an obstacle but rather as a challenge to find the necessary coverage. After many months of negotiations the UNFCU Insurance Centre has recently introduced The Estate Master Select™ Universal Life Insurance program from American General Insurance one of the many AIG Companies.
While Estate Master Select™ is a good program for US Citizens it is especially applicable to those classes who could not qualify for Life Insurance before. This policy is the perfect solution for those members who have been rejected in the past (or who did not even apply for fear of rejection) for a US $ based Life Insurance product.
Estate Master Select™ Universal Life Insurance is available in the UNFCU Branches or through the Insurance Centre. To see if this product is right for you stop by either the DC-2 or Secretariat Branch office or contact the UNFCU Insurance Centre at 212-324-2700, insurance@UNFCU.com.

Non-US Citizens
No matter how many years you have lived away from your native land, some things just do not get any easier. Buying insurance in a foreign country is one of the myriad of problems you have to adapt to. The UNFCU Insurance Centre can now make that task simple and easy. It is now possible for the Expatriate to purchase insurance protection for Automobiles and Personal Effects in all but four countries world-wide. (Those countries are: United States, Canada, North Korea, and Cuba.)
The Automobile coverage can cover your Third Party Liability and Physical Damage to the vehicle itself. Either coverage can be purchased alone or both can be bought together on the same policy. In thirty-one countries the coverage meets local requirements to register the vehicle. In all other jurisdictions you need to purchase the smallest policy available that qualifies to register the car. Our coverage will be excess over the local policy.
A separate policy can cover your Personal Effects and (non-Automobile) Third Party Liability. The policy covers loss or damage to your Personal Property and special coverage can be purchased for higher value items such as Fine Arts, Antiques, good China, silverware, etc. This protection is available globally in all but the four counties already mentioned. There is no requirement to purchase any local coverage what-so-ever.
There are three added benefits to purchasing either or both of these policies through the UNFCU Insurance Centre:
1. It’s Simple - Just go to the Insurance Centre website within www.UNFCU.org. and learn more about these products.
2. It’s Quick - While there you can obtain a quote to your specific requirements, and
3. It’s Cost Effective - We have compared the cost of this insurance to local products and in the vast majority of cases our coverage costs less.
