Hans Baritt

Board candidate
Geneva, Switzerland

Relevant experience and qualifications

I am honored to present my candidacy for the UNFCU Board of Directors. With nearly thirty years of financial management experience, including positions at WHO, the United Nations, and my current role as Controller and Director of Finance and Administration at UNHCR, I feel that my deep understanding of UN finance would be an invaluable asset to the Board. Throughout my career, I have witnessed firsthand the indispensable role institutions like UNFCU play in supporting our staff, both at headquarters and in country operations. Additionally, my passion and expertise in harnessing technology could further enhance my contributions to the role.

Candidate statement

UN Staff who rotate between duty stations across the globe unfortunately do not always have the same access to the banking systems as most others. The UNFCU fills part of this gap by playing a key role to provide UN System staff and retirees banking and other financial services. We have also seen how UNFCU can even support staff in certain emergency operations. I am interested to see how we can broaden the reach of services of UNFCU to even more staff serving around the globe. I also feel that strong governance is crucial for UN institutions, and I’m dedicated to maintaining excellence on the UNFCU Board, investing the required time and expertise.
