Avoid search result scams

When searching online, the first links that appear are sometimes “Sponsored” ads. Scammers are increasingly buying these “Sponsored” ad spaces and linking to fake websites that mimic trusted organizations — including UNFCU. 

When searching for UNFCU online, these fake “Sponsored” ad links can bring you to a fraudulent site designed to steal your Digital Banking login details. 

Four simple ways to protect yourself against these scams 

1. Bookmark unfcu.org   

The safest way to reach your UNFCU accounts on a computer is to type unfcu.org directly into your browser's address bar and save it as a bookmark or favorite.

2. Verify the web address 

Before clicking any link or entering your username and password, check the address bar at the top of your browser and make sure the web address starts with https://www.unfcu.org.  

Look closely for subtle typos, extra dashes, or unusual spellings, such as unfcu-login or unfcu.net, as these are not official UNFCU sites. 

3. Use the official UNFCU mobile app 

If you use a mobile phone or tablet, accessing your account through the official UNFCU Digital Banking app completely eliminates the risk of clicking fake search result links. You can download the app from the Apple App Store® or get it on Google Play™. 

4. Scroll past “sponsored” ad results  

Search engines mark paid advertisements with a small tag that says “Sponsored” or “Ad.” Ignore these top paid links, scroll down to the standard search results, and look for unfcu.org. 

Always double-check that the web address is exactly correct, with no typos.
